Thanksgiving with Family
We have been blessed over the past few months to have family visiting us! And, we have more family coming in a few weeks! We are not doing much traveling right now due to our house renovations and the fact that I am a week and a half into my third trimester! Wow - it's going by so quickly!
Okay, just a word before we share about our latest visitors. We are so thankful to be close to our families in spirit, even though we are far away in physical distance. And, we are so grateful that they are willing to keep in touch in many different ways - through mail, phone calls, Skyping, and as often as possible, they make big sacrifices to complete the long journey to come see us. Thank you to all of you for your love and for all that you do to be close to us. We love you!
Last week, Cookie and Papa came to share Thanksiving with us. We had a wonderful time with them. Life is definitely interesting at our house these days. You never know if a wall or ceiling or floor is going to be missing from one day to the next. Cookie and Papa were not only very supportive of our current state of living but also incredibly helpful in getting us another step forward in our renovation process. We did a little work, had a lot of fun, and just enjoyed being together each day! The kids just can't get enough of having family visit and they had a blast!
Fun time out in the front yard - one of our favorite things about our new house!
A Cracker Barrel Thanksgiving Meal! We decided that with all of the construction, we should take it easy and not make a huge meal this year. I found out that Cracker Barrel will cook and package a meal for 6 to go. It was perfect and really yummy for us this year!
A little Thanksgiving nap - yes, he did fall asleep with his hand tucked under his belt!
Afternoon reading time
Fun with Papa
Cookie always helps out with things around the house when she comes - it is wonderful! This time, Ellery joins in!
A nice afternoon walk on Thanksgiving
Observing pumpkins the kids picked at their school this year
Playing in Kiran's room (well, currently "the kids'" room as Ellery's space is under construction). There was lots of imaginative play this week, especially "doctor." I think Cookie survived all of her flu shots from Nurse Ellery. I must say though that Cookie really missed out, as I have been getting the flu mist all week since they left!
Daddy and Papa working hard on more demolition and preparation for the new bathroom. Papa has done so much to help us, and we are very grateful for this!
A craft project with Cookie!
Guess who!
You never know what new toys you might find in a house that is being renovated. Here, Cookie gets a ride on the rolling base of a contractor trash can! As you can imagine, the kids thought this was wonderful!
Playing ball with Cookie
A few creative games we played one night with Papa!
An afternoon at the park!
Go Kiran, go! He has recently figured out how to do the monkey bars. He just decided to try it one day, and he can't get enough!
Okay, so I decided to sneak in a photo of our growing baby at 28 weeks!
Waiting for a fun train ride!
This was such a special evening! Our favorite part of the ride was when we decided to go on the outdoor car. It was cold, but we all snuggled under a favorite quilt and loved the cold November air and seeing the beautiful moon! What a wonderful week! We love you Cookie and Papa!

Thanksgiving Dinner at School
Kiran and Ellery's school had a dinner today to celebrate Thanksgiving. Everyone brought food to share, and it was really nice! What a treat to spend that time together as a family and enjoy time in our children's world for a little while. I think the kids loved us being there. One really sweet moment happened right after Kiran's class came in all decked out in their pilgrim and Native American hats & bonnets & headdresses. Kiran immediately wanted to know where Ms. Jan was. I didn't know that she was going to be able to make it to the event, but he knew and couldn't wait to see her. Ms. Jan, Kiran's teacher, had a heart attack just after the first 6 weeks of school. Kiran has really missed her, and he was delighted to talk with her! She looks great and will be back in the Spring!
We then had fun checking out the place mats Kiran and Ellery had made, which are really sweet and will be lots of fun to use at home now. Kiran ended up wearing his headdress all day, including during a visit to Daddy's office! He loved being Fast Foot!
Then, it was time for lunch! We got everyone's plates and got ready to eat. Well, Kiran has tried to teach Ellery about savoring and waiting for the good stuff, but it hasn't sunk in so far! Ellery could hardly eat a thing as she was eyeing the mound of white icing and sprinkles atop her cupcake dessert! Kiran, on the other hand, has become quite the big eater at our house! He ate every bite of yummy food on his plate before even thinking of touching his cupcake. It's actually really cute how he enjoys his meals and really "savors" every bite, and how he tries to convince Ellery of his ways!
Anyway, it was a special day for us, and we are so thankful Daddy was able to meet us!

Leaves and Things
Just a few fun things to share from this week. First, here is the view from my kitchen window. I'm going to love seeing our neighbors' tree each fall!
So, I've always said I didn't know how I'd be a girls' mom because I really don't do fancy things with hair and wouldn't consider myself up on the latest styles, etc. (Actually, I know they'd be fine either way - I've made it without being fancy all these years!) Well, maybe I'm finally making some progress, and my 2 little girls will have a chance to try some girly ways and decide for themselves what styles suit them best. Here are some photos of my first time braiding Ellery's hair this week. Someone else had put it in french braids recently, and it was just too cute. Plus, I was inspired by having Nat and Addie around for a week! I finally got brave enough to try a new creative side, and I actually had lots of fun! Ellery did great! She is so patient when I work with her hair!
On Sunday, we raked and mowed leaves! The kids had a blast playing in them! So, here are this year's leaf photos.
After fun times in the leaves, both kids were ready to pose for a few fall pictures! It was all very spontaneous which was really fun because I thought they turned out great.
Finally, here is a 25 week belly photo. You can see that our sweet little girl is definitely growing! Last Friday, I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound. Our baby is doing great! She was 1 lb 10 oz. then and is probably around 2 lbs now. She is just the size she needs to be at this stage. She has excellent movements, and everything else looks great, too! I am feeling really well, too!
